A Little Hideaway

Cayucos, California. It might be my new favorite spot. And it was found by accident.

My girlfriend and I took a weekend trip up to Cambria. On the way up is when we found Cayucos. A few minutes and a bathroom break later, we discovered the little town and this pier that has become one of my favorite spots in California. As you can see it is beautiful. But it is secluded, has great little stores, nice people, good food, and a stress free environment.

I have spent the better part of a week editing these pictures. Back and forth. Really wanted these to come out good. I have something I am happy with so I wanted to share. If anyone is interested I could do a blog on the color correction process and variations. It is pretty amazing when you are editing to make a few subtle changes and compare it to you last version. You can really notice the changes actually. Below are the images, enjoy. As always these, along with many other prints, are available for sale (update on all of that coming shortly). NEW PRINTS

I wanted to post up two of my newest additions. They are called “Pelican Stare Off” and “Sail Boat” (second name is far less creative, I understand that).

All of my prints are on a huge sale right now to try to get my store going. Use code “BLUEGIRAFFEHALFOFF” when checking out at etsy or bluegiraffeimages.com. Share to friends and family, anyone can use it.

Going Through Old Photos

Pardon me while I sound like my mother for a second. In the digital age things are quickly pushed to the back of some hard drive or some folder in an editing program. We are constantly ingesting and ingesting that, at least with me, I forgot to enjoy what I’ve already taken. Ok, there – mom moment has passed.

I went through some old photos I took earlier in the summer and some even last summer. I re-edited a few and found that I liked them all over again. Giving a picture a new look or tweaking it is sometimes a good way to “blow the dust off”.  It also confirmed for me that I had defiantly developed a strong style, which is good.

Anyways, long story short – here they are. Available to order for prints (information below) or just to look at and maybe get inspired to find your old photos.

Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was my birthday. 27. Old enough to feel old but not old enough to where you can tell people that and they will ever agree with you. My girlfriend took me to Newport Beach for the day/night then to Huntington Beach on Sunday for an amazing brunch & hang out on the beach day. We met a lot of nice people and had a great relaxing time in one of my favorite places.

We met a pelican on the pier. He was photogenic for a while but was clearly there for other reasons… fish. Then it was on to some beach time and brunch.
